COMBATING MENTAL HEALTH
THROUGH TECHNOLOGY
Aspiration Leadership Academy (ALA), an initiative of YouthsMAP Inc., is a direct response to the Surgeon General’s call for solutions to the youth crises. ALA is designed to mitigate the mental health risks associated with the wrongful, excessive, and non-productive use of digital tools by adolescents and young adults. It is focused on training adolescents and young adults in the ethical and creative use of digital tools for productive purposes. The objective is to train program participants on how to deploy digital tools and platforms for creative endeavors. Focus areas will include; entrepreneurship, strategy, leadership, programming, and community engagement. The program’s theory of change is rooted in the assumption that enhancing digital skills in an environment of collaboration and support would improve socio-economic outcomes over the long-term thereby reducing exposure to mental health.
